Just in case we were lulled into a false sense of security–thinking Spring had sprung thanks to the buds on the trees, the blooms on the pansies, the sprouts of emerging daylillies, or maybe even the temperatures that creeped into the seventies yesterday–Mother Nature made sure Spring Break went out with a bang this weekend.
I woke to the sound of sleet hitting my window around 8:00 a.m. but managed to pull the covers back over my head and ignore the whole prospect of more cold weather until I emerged into the kitchen around 10:00 to see snow pouring from the sky. We’ve got around four inches on the ground right now with a total accumulation of six to eight expected. DD1 will be in for an unpleasant surprise when she arrives home from her cruise tomorrow night!
Fortunately, the weather doesn’t seem to have interfered with our biggest plans for the weekend–seeing a concert tonight that the kids have been looking forward to for months. The show is on, and so is dinner out before hand. Until then, I’m going to try to stay warm and finish up my latest book club selection, The Postmistress. More on that later.
