Five Courses That Should Be Available For The Taking

Dawn over at Alex Year One tagged me with this meme.  It was great timing since for the past seven years in my old job as a high school principal, I was working on the course planning guide for the next year at about this time.  And I miss it so.  Well, not really, but anyway…

Rules: Devise a list of 5-10 courses you would take to fix your life. It’s more fun to be in classes with friends, so include one class from the person who tagged you that you’d also like to take.

I’ll be taking:

Genealogy Study for Dummies This one I’ll take with Dawn. Genealogy is something that fits in nicely with my interest in history.  I’m the one who listens when the older relatives start telling the family stories, but I’ve never really gotten serious about genealogical research.  I could use some tips.

Chainsaws 101 I’ll be taking this one along with Adventure Guy.  We suddenly find ourselves with an actual need for a chainsaw for icestorm cleanup tasks.  This makes him very, very happy and me very, very nervous.  Last time I checked, just owning carhartts does not make one a qualified chainsaw operator.  Though I’ll admit they do make him look like he knows what he’s doing.

Perfectionists Anonymous I’m sure there’s a 12-step program out there somewhere to take care of the urge to create The. Perfect. Holiday.  You know, the perfect gifts, the perfect tree, the perfect baked goods.  Don’t even get me started on my issues with divinity.  And, yes, I mean the candy kind.  I’ve lost my divinity mojo.  Adventure Guy has asked me to PLEASE not attempt it.  I’ve laid off for about two years now.  I’m feeling another try coming on.  Just as soon as we get a little dry weather.

Baking Without Eating I’ll need this one even more if the divinity thing goes well, but I’m already in trouble with the sugar cookies we made yesterday.  If you’d like to join me for this one, try out my recipe.  It’ll provide plenty of inspiration for the class.

Telepathic Cleaning Learn to curtail clutter and keep your home spotless by merely visualizing the desired state of your home.  I’m very good and sitting around thinking about cleaning.  After this class, I plan to be able to actually accomplish said cleaning at the same time.

So, what classes would you take if they were available?  I tag Sock Girl, Alto2, and Mimi.

  1. ooo. I might have to try to make divinity this year. My grandma taught me once – and it was full of crazy instructions like cook “till it’s ready”

“how do you know when it’s ready?”

    “You’ll know”

    huh?

    🙂

I’ll sign up for telepathic cleaning with you! It should be enough to think up orderly filing schemes — and have the papers do their part and find their places without having to be picked up and put in them…

  3. I love this meme! (It’s going to take some thought).
Good luck getting your divinity mojo back. I love the stuff but completely gave up trying to make it.
